Those who lead people by following the Tao
don't use weapons to enforce their will.
Using force always leads to unseen troubles.
In the places where armies march,
thorns and briars bloom and grow.
After armies take to war,
bad years must always follow.
The skillful commander
strikes a decisive blow then stops.
When victory is won over the enemy through war
it is not a thing of great pride.
When the battle is over,
arrogance is the new enemy.
War can result when no other alternative is given,
so the one who overcomes an enemy should not dominate them.
The strong always weakened with time.
This is not the way of the Tao.
That which is not of the Tao will soon end.
Coloro che conducono le persone seguendo il Tao non usare le armi per imporre la loro volontà. Utilizzo di forza porta sempre a problemi inediti.
Nei luoghi in cui gli eserciti marciano, spine e rovi fiorire e crescere. Dopo eserciti prendere in guerra, annate cattive devono sempre seguire. Il comandante abile colpisce un colpo decisivo poi si ferma. Quando la vittoria è vinta sul nemico attraverso la guerra non è una cosa di grande orgoglio. Quando la battaglia è finita, l'arroganza è il nuovo nemico. La guerra può risultare quando altra alternativa è data, così anche colui che vince un nemico non deve dominarli. Il forte sempre indebolito con il tempo.
Questa non è la via del Tao. Ciò che non è del Tao presto fine.
